What is Iver Nature Study Centre?

Iver Nature Study Centre is a wildlife garden in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire where members of the community, irrespective of their age, ability or background can use the facilities and/or take part in organised activities for educational, environmental or therapeutic purposes.

A series of mini-habitats have been created within the two-acre site: a meadow, woodland, five ponds, a mini-rainforest, a sensory area, the Garden of Time and Get Down to Nature (a mini assault-course with activities which demonstrate how animals move). There is a visitors' cabin housing a main activity room and kitchen & toilet facilities. There are wide footpaths and ramps with access for all users.

Since it was opened in September 1990, Iver Nature Study Centre has produced many innovative, tactile and visually stimulating projects and events that encourages members of the local community, and further afield, to visit - e.g. The Rainforest Experience (3 times), The Sea Experience (with a life-size blue whale jigsaw), The African Experience, Dig for Victory, Native American Indians, World Cup '98, The Science of Christmas, Winter Wonderland, 2001: A Space Experience, as well as the normal weekly art and craft activities on offer.

Iver Nature Study Centre is a joint venture between National Grid and Groundwork Thames Valley.
