CARING ACTUALLY - The Swinging 60’s +
We care about the environment and we care about you.
A series of events for the Swinging 60s—and over and for all those not ready to be put out to pasture just yet! Do you know a lonely, vulnerable neighbour who would like to meet others ? Are you a member of a community group or an individual interested in nature? Then Come and join us at Iver Nature Study Centre between 2 pm—4 pm on the following dates. £3.00 per person, per activity—includes afternoon tea, and a tour of the centre. Thursday 15th May — Planting Pots & Hanging Baskets
Produce your own creations and have something to take home.
Tuesday 3rd June - Go round with Reg
Tour the site and we will take some pictures, print them and put them into a book for you to take home at the end of the day.
Monday 16th June - Karaoke with Burt
come and have a sing a long of your old favourites songs from shows and the war years . The old irreplaceable standards.
Thursday 17th July - Buzzing Arround
Hear about the fascinating world of the honey bee and roll your own candle.
HALF TERM
ACTIVITIES - with Jill Nicholas
Tuesday 27th May - Glass Painting
Suitable for 5 - 9 years old £4.50 per child.10.30 am –12.30pm
Learn how to use glass paints to make window decorations, jewellery and pencil holders. Please wear old clothes and bring one or two clean jam jars (labels removed). Must be accompanied by an adult.
Tuesday 27th May - Flags & Streamers
Pre School Nature Play £4.00 per child
Suitable for 3 - 5 years old 1.30 pm—3.00 pm
Paint your own flag and make a circus streamer, all out of
recycled materials.

Make natural castanets, shakers and willow tambourines.
Wednesday 13th August - Backpacking
Suitable for 5 - 9 year old £4.50 per child 10.30 am - 12.30 pm
Make and paint your own backpack !! From recycled fabric and without sewing ! Bring an old plain T Shirt to paint as well.
PRE-SCHOOL NATURE PLAY with Jill Nicholas
SUITABLE FOR 3 - 4 3/4 YEARS OLD
Wed 25th June - Beside the Seaside 1.00 pm - 2.30 pm
A junk modelling session making giant fish and boats to sail.
Wed 23rd July - Music from the Forest 1.30 pm - 2.30 pm
Come and make bamboo shakers and willow tambourines
Wed 13th August - The Sensory Adventure 1.30 - 3.00 pm
Explore nature using your senses. A nature walk around the garden with
Lots of activities: Prickly Tickly, Paint Boxes, Treasure Sacks, Feely Bags
Wednesday 24th September - Animal Masks 1.00 - 2.30 pm
Make your own mask - choose between a Ladybird, Spider, Mouse or Rabbit.
CHRIS HALE’S ART CLASSES – 10am to 2.00pm - £12.
All standards welcome to come and join Chris in a
relaxing and stimulating atmosphere. Materials provided on first visit.

I’m Bored Week — Theme “Caring, Actually”
Monday 4th August—Friday 8th August
10.30 am— 2.30 pm Cost: £50 per child
for children between the ages of 5 –9 years old.
We will look at caring in the countryside; looking after yoursELF health wise with cooking and healthy meals. We will show you how to care for pets and how a dog can care for its owner. We will show you how to relate to the elderly by putting on a show and a tea party for a group of Senior Citizens. Please Call us on 01895 270730 for a booking form.

STEP THIS WAY!
Meet in the car park of the Swan & Bottle, Oxford Road, Uxbridge at 11am and finish at the study centre where we will be ready with a ploughman’s lunch at a cost of £3.50 per person. Length of the walk is
approximately 1½ miles. Duration approximately 45 minutes.
Thursdays : 1st May, 12th June, 10th July, 7th August and 4th September.

The Iver Nature Study
Centre in Buckinghamshire is offering volunteer placements for young people
with a passion for the environment. With generous support of National Grid and
V you could spend 9 or 12 months learning how to teach children about the world
around them, trying your hand at a variety of practical gardening skills and environmental educational packages and
art and craft activities.
· 4 placements for 16 – 25 year olds
· 2 x 12 month posts starting
January 2008
· 2 x 9 month posts starting August
2008
· 30 hours per week
· Living, travel and other expenses
paid up to £75 per week
· Platinum Youth Achievement Award
· A great experience

Iver Nature Study Centre in conjunction with Uxbridge College will
support your professional development and help you with the following:
- You will receive a free course aimed at improving your
customer service skills and gain a qualification
- You will undertake a 36 hour work experience placement at
Iver Nature Study Centre
Flexible starting dates and times to suit your needs
Funding available to meet travel and childcare expenses
You must be:
- Unemployed
- With residency and right to work in the UK
This project is funded by the European Social Fund Pan
